I urge good people to donate to ALSO. They are doing much needed work. These kids need to know that most of us support their courage to be themselves.

After meeting at a Town Hall meeting I understand that she is a hater of those who are different.

I just hope one of her children are not different from what she expects.

Me too. I feel the same about Bearden's child, and Satcher's kids. Statistically, some of these kids will be lost if the LGBTQ+ community and unfortunately, they'll know what their parents did to kids and families like them.

Everyone is free to live their lives as they see fit. It IS NOT the job of the government to facilitate or fund peoples lives. I DO NOT get funding! YOU do not get funding! WHY is it that people who are looked at as "disadvantaged" get funding?? We are all equal - isn't that the Mantra?! So if we are equal and want to be treated equal stop taking my money and giving it to others. Those who chose to give freely themselves can...not from a government mandate. The governments job is to build roads and keep the streets safe. The citizens who "chose" to do drugs and might potentially live on the streets is at their own doing for whatever reason it may be, it is NOT for me to judge - or anyone else for that matter, right??! I make the choices for my life and I am responsible for my life. I do not get handouts. But do NOT punish me because I don't have issues that need addressing. If I don't have mental issues, gender questions or homelessness then I am one of the UNLUCKY ones who does not receive government benefits!! What is the point of being a productive citizen in society if according the government is not rewarded by them.

As Amanda Ballard's District 2 constituent and an openly queer woman myself, it is very hurtful to see the lengths she's gone to in order to diminish us and our experiences in various ways in the community. She's supposed to be non-partisan and representing us ALL.

Your anti-Christian bigotry betrays itself in your assumptions. You use the word hate as a pejorative because it fits your inability to adequately describe how you really feel. The sound bites posted in your piece are not the Ben half truths. Your world view will eventually bring society crashing down upon itself. And when the time comes that every knee shall bow and every tongue confess, you will curse God and meet your eternal fate. The hat my dear fellow is the unabashed truth. Relativism will not save you. You call it hate. You have, like so many, been beguiled. I would suggest you read Romans chapter one, verse 28, and realize you are a part of the problem and no the solution.

And repent.

I know you will you will probably have a response that once again demonstrates your love of this present darkness. That’s okay, I tell you the truth because I love you.

Naw, Marc's correct. It's hatred and bigotry under the guise of civility. I'm so very sorry that you were taught that what you're presenting here is love and righteousness.

So many other Christians don't agree with you. (Marc, from my understanding, is actually of the same faith as Commissioner Ballard, may he correct me if I'm wrong. He doesn't walk around spouting his religion at the rest of us.)

At the same time, I support your right to believe as you do. Heck, I support Commissioner Ballard's right to believe as she wishes as well.

Just keep it in your churches and your homes, outside of the public sphere where we're discussing the rights of ALL citizens to live as we choose. We're ALL constituents, tax-payers, and members of society and we all deserve basic respect and acceptance as humans.

I disagree with your assessment and these two statements: "Marc's correct. It's hatred and bigotry under the guise of civility. I'm so very sorry that you were taught that what you're presenting here is love and righteousness." - "At the same time, I support your right to believe as you do. Heck, I support Commissioner Ballard's right to believe as she wishes as well.

Just keep it in your churches and your homes, outside of the public sphere where we're discussing the rights of ALL citizens to live as we choose."

One of the things that I find most people get wrong, is their concept of the separation of Church and State. The state is not to invade the church realm as it relates to state sponsored and state run churches. However, if you are a Christian, you are a member of the world-wide church, due to the fact your are a believer, baptized (immersed) in Christ, and the Holy Spirit abides in you. So it is hard to go anywhere and do anything without caring your faith with you. The reason the church and state comment is so misunderstood, is because of the misunderstanding of what and who the church is.

I appreciate you not minding others having a different point of view. But leaving your "religion" at the house, is not a real option for the Christian, even though some do. However, if you are a discipled Christian and have a Biblical world-view as opposed to a secular world-view, then you will believe the truth of Scripture just as the original writer meant for the original reader. This erases current cultural mores from the truth, revealing what is the truth for today, just as it was when it was written.

Hope this gives you a better idea where they are coming from and why.
