Buchanan, R-Longboat Key, says he raised almost $1.1 million in first three months of 2022 as he becomes favorite to lead powerful committee if GOP retakes House

Donors are betting heavy on U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan becoming an even more powerful member of Congress.

Buchanan’s political operation on Tuesday said that during the first three months of 2022, he collected almost $1.1 million a donations. That’s almost twice his previously biggest take in a quarter since being elected to the House in 2006.
