Governor signs bill that will allow Manatee County to ignore Holmes Beach law and build parking garage
Parking dispute hits another low.

Gov. Ron DeSantis on Friday signed House Bill 947, which will allow Manatee County to supersede Holmes Beach’s authority and build a parking garage at Public Beach.
He should have vetoed it.

What’s most objectionable about Manatee County government’s ham-fisted effort to build a parking garage at one of the three major gateways to Anna Maria Island, is not the possible aesthetic disaster it might represent for Holmes Beach and all of AMI.
