COVID-19 death toll in Manatee-Sarasota continues to climb
Coronavirus has killed more than 3,100 local residents since start of the pandemic in March 2020.
Seven more COVID-19 deaths were reported this week in Manatee-Sarasota, raising the two-county total during the pandemic to at least 3,127, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
When the deaths happened was not known, but the CDC said Wednesday they were reported between May 15 and May 21.
The death toll in Manatee increased by two to 1,314 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. In Sarasota County, five new deaths were reported, raising the total killed by the coronavirus to at least 1,813, according to the CDC.
As of May 19, there have been at least 74,330 deaths in Florida blamed on the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
