More people have died from COVID-19 in Manatee and Sarasota counties than those who were killed in New York City during the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

When the 23 latest deaths — six in Manatee and 17 in Sarasota — exactly occurred was not known, but they were reported between Feb. 13 and Feb. 19, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
