Forty-four more COVID-19 deaths were recorded in Manatee-Sarasota in the past week, raising the the total death toll in the two counties to 2,521 since the start of the pandemic, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Fourteen of the new deaths were in Manatee, raising the county’s count to 1,090 — or about 1 in 367 residents.
