COVID-19 has killed almost 1,000 Manatee County residents, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

As of Sept. 25, 990 people in the county — or about 1 in 404 residents — have died since March 2020, after contracting the novel coronavirus. That’s up from the 881 deaths recorded a week earlier, on Sept. 18.
